Fire & Flood Restoration Technician

Reports to: Anthony Marenghi, Managing Director – Rainbow International South West Wales

Location: Rainbow International, Garngoch Ind Est, Unit 11 Llwyn Y Graig, Gorseinon, Swansea SA4 9WG

Main Purpose: To support your team to ensure best customer experience is adhered to at all times following the 17 Steps of Restoration. Liaise with the administration team, to complete instructions in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To maintain the highest level of Health & Safety at all times, keeping up regular awareness training.
  • To undertake disaster restoration projects, including cleaning and restoration of domestic and commercial items whether contents or buildings, as per technical user guides & manuals used by Rainbow International either onsite or at workshop.
  • To undertake drying and restoration of domestic and commercial items whether contents or buildings, as per technical user guides or manuals used by Rainbow International either onsite or at workshop.
  • Undertake on site procedures on surveying job, either estimating or completing in accordance with Rainbow International policy and procedures.
  • Use Rainbow IT System to records all activities and tasks and/or other IT based scoping systems.
  • To ensure that all work allocated for each day is completed on the same day.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy vehicle and equipment, with all equipment up to statutory safety standards, referring any defects to the Unit Manager or Senior Operations Technician.
  • To ensure that you hold a full, clean and valid driver’s licence.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy workshop and warehouse, with all equipment to the statutory safety standards, referring any defects to the Unit Manager.
  • When necessary, assist the administration staff in answering incoming enquiries or outgoing requests either by the use of telephone or post. Including with policy holders in regards to claim queries.
  • To ensure you are aware of your technical and administrative restrictions at each job before undertaking work.
  • Ensure compliance with new methods of undertaking work are adhered to when required.
  • To undertake regular training courses, both formal or on the job training. There is a charge for membership of a professional body, The BDMA, the cost of membership until qualification would be covered by employer but that after qualification, employee would need to cover cost, with regards to membership.
  • CPD Training (continuous professional development) to undertake training which will ensure CPD remains up to date at all times.’
  • Employees must be able to attend the appropriate training regardless of distance, and must also find their own transport. Employees will be reimbursed for expenses occurred.
  • You will be expected to wear the corporately identified clothing provided at all times. All plant tools etc., will be provided to undertake duties, these should be kept in good condition.
  • To visit and promote our company to local business and councils to gain information on how we can improve our service résumé.
  • To help in all other areas of operation as and when needed, also to work in other areas where there are capacity problems in your assigned areas.
  • To be placed on call to ensure the needs of the business are met. In the eventuality of the requirement to be on call, the hours required will be as per a rota system.
  • Maintaining safe working conditions outside and in workshop, and at all times practicing Health and Safety procedures making others aware of any potential dangers of their or others actions.
  • To be inoculated against bio-hazards to ensure your protection and protection of others.
  • Such other duties as may reasonably be required within your capability consistent with the terms and conditions of your employment.

Knowledge:

  • BDMA Accreditation as a minimum
  • Basic level of education – GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Experience of Cleaning (ideally)

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills and telephone manner
  • Good computer literacy – Microsoft Word
  • Driving License (ideally)

Abilities:

  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work within a team, and with a variety of customers
  • Ability to motivate both yourself and others
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, may be required to be on-call
